Tax Forms and Information

 

Federal tax forms start to arrive at the library in early January, and are made available to patrons as soon as they are received. Michigan tax forms usually arrive in February. Forms are kept on the counter near the copy machine. Tax forms are now available online.

The Brandon Township Public Library will be a testing site for the U.S. Census Bureau. Census jobs in the Brandon Township and Ortonville areas are available for the 2010 Census. You will learn what a Census Taker does, how to conduct a census and test for the position. Census Takers work in their local area and are paid for their work.



Prepare for Earth Day with EcoAware @ Your Library

Sponsored by the Library, the DDA and Transitions Ortonville, this series of award winning films is part of a planned celebration of the Earth in the Brandon community, culminating with Earth Day 2010. Covering the issues and politics of climate change, dependence on oil, safe water and food supplies, this series of films is sure to get you thinking about steps our community can take to lessen its ecological footprint while guaranteeing its long term sustainability. Discussion will be led by Lois Robbins and Pam Bytner of Transitions Ortonville.

February 7 - "The End of Suburbia"

Explores the American way of life and its prospects as the planet enters the era of peak oil.

February 21 - "Food, Inc."

Reveals surprising and shocking truths about what we eat, how it's produced, and the effects on our health, our safety and our environment.


Small Business Workshops

The Library, Ortonville Downtown Development Authority and Main Street Oakland County have teamed together to bring a series of small business related workshops to the Brandon community.

Whether you are a business want-to-be or run an existing business, these informative workshops lead by Bill Schroer, a thirty year veteran of the marketing and research industry and past West Michigan Marketer of the Year, will give you a thorough grasp of business, client and marketing issues and the tools you need to make your business succeed. You can attend one or both of these workshops. Lunch will be provided for those who plan to attend both the "Business Plan" and "Marketing" sessions.

Marketing: Competing for the Hearts and Minds of your Customers & Non-Customers

1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Establishing the validity of marketing and the critical position marketing occupies in today's business environment, developing the concept of "positioning", "branding" and raising the business' visibility, and recognizing the importance of a marketing plan and how and who should write one. This workshop will change the way you think about the customer/business interface forever.
