Romancing History

June 22 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Virtual Event
Free

From Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander to Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton series, historical romance novels are exploding in popularity and in media adaptations. Despite the sometimes harsh realities of the historical settings, romance novels present worlds of dukes and lords, glamorous fashion, and elegance. These novels revise and reshape history to satisfy our romantic and erotic desires while allowing us to ignore cultural and social standards we would find distasteful. Join romance and media scholar Bridget Kies as she examines the allure of historical romance across time and space.
