How do I get a Library Card?

Anyone who lives, owns property, or works in Brandon Township is eligible to receive a Brandon Township Library Card. The first card is free, replacement cards cost $1.00. Proof of residency is required. We accept a driver's license or State ID with current address in Brandon Township, a utility bill or rent receipt, or tax bill. If you are a student enrolled in the Brandon School District but live outside of Brandon Township, you can receive a card valid for one year from date of registration for a fee of $6.00.

Those individuals not residing in Brandon Township may purchase a Non-Resident card for an annual fee of $150 per family or $100 per individual.

A child of any age may obtain a library card when accompanied by parent or legal guardian. An application form must be filled out and signed by the parent/guardian; the parent/guardian is responsible for the materials their child borrows.

When coming to the library, you should have your library card with you to borrow materials. You do not need a library card to use library materials, attend programs, make photocopies or request reference information from the public reference desks.

All Brandon residents are required to have a library card to use our Internet computers. All non-residents are granted visitor privileges with a picture ID or school ID.

Renewing Items

You may renew materials one time if there are no outstanding holds on that item. You may do this in person or you may call on the phone to renew. If you call you must have your library card and/or the item to be renewed easily accessible. If you renew online, you'll need your library card number and PIN (Patron Identification Number). To renew online, you go into the My Account feature of the iBistro catalog. You may also renew 24 hours a day 7 days a week by using our Automated Phone Renewal System at 888.672.8983. If you need an extended loan for some reason, maybe you're going on vacation, let us know at check-out and we can usually accommodate you.

Holds/Reserves

If the material you need is not on our shelves, we can hold it for you when it comes in or request it from another library. If you are in the library, you can do this at the Public Desks or use the On-Line Public Catalog. If you are at home, you can call in, or place your request on-line. You will need your library card and your PIN (Patron Identification Number).

We are not participants in the MI Card program. All patrons must have a TLN or MetroNet library card with no outstanding fines or fees over $15.00 to check out materials or to pick-up materials loaned from other libraries. Non-Residents without library cards may use all library materials and computers while visiting the building. No materials will be available for check-out without a valid card, the card is also necessary for pick-up of interlibrary loan materials at this location.

We do have a fax machine for public use, a black & white as well as a color copier available, internet and word-processing computers for public use, and a laminator. Some machines require a nominal fee.

Materials may be returned at any time. Materials may be dropped in the book return or audio/video return under the overhang in the front of the building at any time.
