About Us

BTPL

Welcome to the Brandon Township Public Library located in Ortonville, Michigan. Our mission is to connect people to ideas, information, experiences and materials that provide enjoyment, enrich peoples’ lives, and strengthen our community. The Library strives to fulfill that mission through a growing collection of over 80,000 items in a variety of materials: books, recorded books, magazines, large print materials, compact discs, DVDs, downloadable books, and more. There also are a wide variety of programs and classes for all ages and interests. Check out our calendar for upcoming programs or classes, or sign up for our quarterly e-newsletter, Sequels.

The Library has completed a new Strategic Plan for 2010-2012, and is currently focused on developing new or improved services in the following areas: support for businesses and non-profits that are striving to build the economic base in our community, connecting the public to the online world through free use of computers and 21st century technologies, job and career development support for the public, providing materials that will help the public read, view and listen for pleasure, and helping the public in understanding how to find, evaluate, and use information effectively.

The Library was established in 1926 by the Women’s Club of Ortonville, which raised money for a library by giving teas, shows, bridge benefits, and tag sales. By 1940 there was an average of 3600 books per year being checked out by cardholders. Today the Library loans approximately 130,000 items per year, provides free use of computers 30,000 times per year, and holds 900 classes or programs.

In all that we do we strive to provide an inviting environment for people to enjoy, explore, create, learn and connect. Visit us online or in person. Enjoy the experience!
